Environmental Testing
  • 1) Environmental and biological monitoring through designing and implementing epidemiologic studies aimed at investigating the homes /schools and their surroundings for indoor and outdoor environmental quality (IEQ) problems related to 1) lighting, 2) temperature, 3) humidity, 4) ventilation, and 5) indoor air quality (IAQ) focusing on a) Physical Pollutants (ETS ; Other combustion products; Radon), b) Chemical Pollutants (CO; mercury (if they eat fish); arsenic in the soil around the home; pesticides; lead; VOCs; other toxic indoor air pollution sources such as ammonia or chlorine, c) Biological Pollutants (Molds, Mildew, Dust, Pollen, Spores, Pets (Hair, Animal Dander, Cat saliva); microorganisms (bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses); dust mites, cockroaches, and d) Allergens (contact with dust, pollen, and molds and asthma triggers);

  • 2) Evaluating the indoor environmental quality associated with environmental and / or occupational conditions affecting residential, commercial and industrial properties and the health of the occupants using local, state and federal environmental and occupational compliance requirements;

  • 3) Serving as an indoor air quality (IAQ) specialist resource using public health tools such as environmental and occupational health, environmental epidemiology, environmental medicine, toxicology, risk assessment, and exposure assessment;

  • 4) Exploring Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to get a spatial perspective on the geographic distribution of public environmental health problems, health disparities, environmental justice, and diseases.
